Darren has always had a passion for sports playing multiple sports growing up as a kid. After graduating from the U of S with a teaching degree he began teaching in Fox Valley in 1996 and coaching junior boys volleyball. 

In 2000, Darren took over the senior boys program and helped Fox Valley become a prominent team in the 1A/2A category of SHSAA volleyball from 2000-2018. In 2014, Darren started to help coach club volleyball and was an assistant coach with the Seven Person Wolves from 2014-2016 where they won a Provincial Silver medal in Div 1 in 2015. In 2017 Darren started coaching club in Swift Current where he has helped his clubs earn a Div 1 provincial bronze medal in 2022 and a Div 1
provincial silver medal in 2023. Darren and his family moved to Swift Current in 2019 and he started teaching at Swift Current Comp High School where he currently works today and is the head coach of the Senior Colts Volleyball program.
