Chelsea began playing volleyball in Grade 6 and quickly developed a passion for the sport that has shaped much of her life. With no club volleyball available in Lloydminster at the time, she competed in local ladies’ and co-ed leagues while beginning her coaching journey as a high school drill coach. She continued volunteering with teams whenever possible, learning from those around her. Her love of learning led her back to university at 31 to pursue a Bachelor of Education. This brought a unique opportunity, as her family encouraged her to play for the Rustlers while at Lakeland College. Chelsea started as a middle blocker for both seasons at Lakeland while pursuing her degree. After transferring to the U of S to complete her degree, she was given the chance to assist under head coach Mark Dodds and along several other experienced coaches with the women’s Huskies volleyball team. Since returning to Lloydminster, Chelsea has coached extensively with both Holy Rosary High School and the Rustlers Volleyball Club. She also spent three seasons as an assistant coach with the Lakeland Rustlers Women’s Volleyball team under Austin Dyer, during which time the team captured ACAC gold and CCAA National Championship gold in both 2022–23 and 2023–24. One of her proudest coaching accomplishments has been leading the Holy Rosary senior boys’ program to its first-ever Alberta provincial championship appearance—and every provincial championship since taking over the program. She enjoys working with athletes of all ages and abilities and hopes to always be part of building confidence and competence in the players around her.
